Painter to Porto - Portugal
Portugal
Sátrapa emerged at the end of 2013 as an alter ego resulting from a convergence of circumstances, including an exceptionally harsh winter and a personal existential crisis linked to a global social crisis.
In the midst of his creative passion, in 2014 Sátrapa founded the Factoría de Androides, a place where robots began to emerge spontaneously, creating themselves without the direct intervention of an artist.
What started out as an exercise in alienation, fiction and fantasy quickly evolved into something more vast and elusive. The androids designed by Sátrapa took ownership of their fictional existences, taking their own destinies into their own hands.
For those unfamiliar with Sátrapa's creative process, it may seem hard to believe that all his works are the result of actions driven by intuition, without any prior sketch. These creations are born in the moment, out of pure impulse, and are only refined and completed much later, with the meticulousness characteristic of a master.
While his first forays into painting, although somewhat naive, already hinted at a preoccupation with denouncing the profound upheavals in society in recent years, it is in his most recent works, executed in acrylic on wood and of larger dimensions, that these portraits acquire a truly impressive depth of character and psychological richness.
