Pol Bury (1922-2005) was a Belgian artist born in Haine-Saint-Pierre. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels and began his career as an abstract painter. He also had an exciting life between cycling around France and his work in the Resistance during the Second World War. He also opened a bookshop and lived in New York for a few years.

Today, Bury's work is in the permanent collections of many art museums around the world, including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, MoMA in New York and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona. His contribution to kinetic art and contemporary sculpture is recognised as one of the most important of the 20th century.

In the 1950s, Bury joined the kinetic art movement and began to explore the possibilities of mobile sculpture. He became known for his sculptures that use gravity, light and movement to create hypnotic and changing effects.

In the early 1960s, Bury began creating sculptures for public spaces, including fountains and monumental sculptures. His sculptures became symbols of modern architecture, especially in Brussels, where he created several fountains and sculptures for the city.

During his career, Bury has explored many artistic media, including photography, video and writing.
