Biography

Judy Watson is a renowned Australian contemporary artist, born in 1959 in Mundubbera, Queensland. She is a member of the Waanyi community, an Aboriginal community in north-west Queensland.

Her artwork explores themes of identity, memory, history and relationship with the land, particularly in relation to the experience of Australia's indigenous peoples. Watson uses a variety of media, including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, photography and installation, to express her ideas and her deep connection to Aboriginal culture.
