Biography

Michael Te Rakato Parekōwhai is a New Zealand sculptor and lecturer at the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland.
He is of Ngāriki Rotoawe and Ngāti Whakarongo descent and his mother is Pākehā.
Parekowhai received a Laureate Award from the New Zealand Foundation for the Arts in 2001.
