Sculptor to Suva - Fiji Islands
Fiji Islands
Born in 1968 in Suva, Fiji, where he lives and works at the University of the South Pacific (USP). Ben never actually studied fine arts in the formal sense, but his artwork has been collected internationally and can be found at the National Gallery of Australia in Canberra, the National Museum of Palau, the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, the Papua New Guinea National Museum and Art Gallery, as well as the University of St Andrews in Scotland, and in various private collections throughout the Pacific region, Australia and New Zealand, Europe and most recently the United States.
Ben’s work is heavily influenced by his cross-cultural heritage, both Fijian and Chinese, and the Pacific region, and his art practice moves across a variety of mediums and materials, such as bronze, aluminum, mild steel and stone sculptures, wood carvings, linocut prints, and most recently, painting.
