Sculptor to Noumea - New Caledonia
New Caledonia
From the southwest of France, Riko has developed a special relationship with nature since her early childhood. Forest, river, sea are places of inspiration which bring fundamental balance.
“The sea gives me food, it’s my past, my life. I am above all a fisherman, I cannot do without the sea.” By hand, without electricity and lulled by the surf of the ocean, his art gradually comes to life. Thus, when the meal and the fire are assured, the time remaining becomes the time of sculpture: “There, your mind opens, your imagination unfolds and you truly access yourself”. For Riko, sculpting is a journey into a wild world from which we may never want to return. “I've always had a hard time adjusting to our system, in fact I never wanted to; the sea, the corner of the fire, my smoked fish, it is for me the greatest wealth and the most beautiful freedom”.
