In The Woup is a French street artist based in Lyon. Born between the era of Google and the Nintendo NES, he grew up immersed in the video game culture of the 80s and 90s, which had a major influence on his artistic work.

Since 2009, he has specialised in mosaics, transforming pixels into urban art. His creations, mainly inspired by the world of Mario Bros and other video game classics, are scattered around the world, including France, Spain, Italy, and even the Sultanate of Oman.

In The Woup's approach is deeply rooted in nostalgia for retro video games. Using mosaics as a medium, he explores the idea of ‘crossovers’ between Mario and other worlds, creating a multitude of variations and ‘costumes’ for the iconic character.

Each mosaic is unique and seeks to provoke interaction and reflection in passers-by, paying homage to the cultural influences of his childhood while incorporating modern elements. This blend of past and present, virtual and real, makes his works bridges between generations and cultures.
