Arnold & Willy

Artwork depicting "Arnold and Willy", one of the first series to show white and black characters living together. In this cult series, Arnold (played by Gary Coleman) and his older brother Willy, two black children from Harlem, live with Philip Drummond and his daughter Kimberly in an upmarket district of Manhattan.

The portrait of Arnold is the signature of Zibe, one of Milan's best-known artists. In one way or another, he always features Arnold in his work - a reference to the stereotype of the loser who takes revenge on those who have treated him badly. But there is also a personal reason for choosing Arnold as Zibe's signature. It's a reference to one of Zibe's childhood friends, who struggled with the same sense of inadequacy as Arnold in the TV series, and ended up committing suicide.
