The collective work "Totems Liberté," produced in 2013 by the inmates of the Nouméa prison centre, Camp Est, is a poignant example of social reintegration through art. This project, carried out within the framework of the Workshop of the Penitentiary Service of insertion and probation, uses artistic creation as a means of rehabilitating prisoners.
Art offers inmates an opportunity to express themselves, develop their creativity, and find a positive outlet for their emotions and experiences. By working together on a common project, inmates also learn important social skills, such as collaboration and communication.
