Noumea - New Caledonia
New Caledonia
This magical place, hidden in lush greenery, is located in the heart of the city. When you arrive in front of this magnificent colonial residence, you are immediately transported to another universe of sweets and travel. The gallery is specialized in Oceanic art and you can find there both old traditional art objects and the interpretation made by the new generation of artists. A mixture of generations, techniques and cultures that we appreciate whether we are followers of tradition or contemporary art. Isabelle will be able to advise you and tell you the story of each of these works.
The place also hosts many practitioners, creators and even a hidden café!

“Betel” exhibition takes place from April 9 to 27, 2024
This exhibition highlights the cultural practice of chewing “betel” or “buai” in the Pacific. This tradition uses a mixture composed of areca nuts, ears of the Piper betle vine and lime. Chewing this mixture promotes salivation, reduces hunger and improves speaking. In New Guinea, this practice gave rise to the production of refined objects, including mortars, pestles and lime containers with spatula.
