Upwards & Onwards

The design of this piece was based on a re-appropriation of a work created by Paul Trotter of @fultontrotter architects. His design depicted a currawong flying through jacaranda trees.

Looking at the wall to start mapping the work, sitting thinking about the concept, a currawong descended and sat above the wall while the artist visualised it. A little later, as he walked along the streets adjacent to the wall, the jacarandas bloomed. For Joel, these were two affirmations that things were as they should be.

This work simply became the artist's own story of hope. While all his works were at a standstill, this one evolved freely "up and down". This one moved freely "up and forward".
