What could be more natural than a sculpture of a Giraffe in the Parc de la tête d'Or, renowned for the presence of these large animals? In 2016, following a project initiated by the city of Lyon and the Devenir endowment fund, artist Damien Colcombet was able to install his bronze sculpture, a giraffe with its baby, in the city's largest park.
Passionate about animal life, this sculptor is known for his realism: you only have to admire the folds in the Giraffe's neck to be impressed. The technique used combines lost-wax casting methods and a 3D wax printer, to produce the final result in bronze weighing almost a tonne. The showcasing of this sculpture reflects the city of Lyon's commitment to protecting biodiversity.
