Wellington - New Zealand
New Zealand
This district has gained on the sea over the years first by draining part of the port, then incongruously by taking advantage of the great earthquake of 1885 which raised the coastal area by more than a meter and a half without making victims.
The Waterfront is now a pleasant pedestrianised seafront lined with restaurants and cafés, where people stroll on foot or on rollerblades, while the more sporty take to the water by hiring kayaks, pedalos and even stand-up paddles.
